Project Management – 16 Hours
Description:
This workshop presents a proven 8-step methodology for project planning and control, including: definition of the customer’s requirements, roles of the project team, determination and flowcharting of the project tasks, scheduling and costing, quality aspects of critical tasks, risk management and project communications.
This is an application-intensive program developed around eight common-sense questions that should be answered for all projects regardless of project size or complexity.
Design:
The 8-step Methodology is a practical process for organizing, planning, implementing and controlling projects. Several tools and techniques are covered for each of the following steps during the workshop:
- Define Outcome
- Identify Team Members
- Determine the Tasks Required
- Optimize the Schedule
- Optimize the Work Performance
- Execute the Plan
- Review the Work
- Complete the Work
Logistics:
This workshop is applicable for individuals or teams who are responsible for project planning and performance monitoring. The content is straightforward and pertinent to all functions, e.g., purchasing, engineering, sales, finance, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), quality, manufacturing, etc.
Usually delivered as a two-day seminar. At the end of the workshop participants will have a complete framework for successful project management of their own projects. Training is most effective for intact teams responsible for planning a new project.
Participants should come to the workshop with a new or active project in mind so that project plans can be developed in the application sections of the course.

- Over 30 tools and techniques are covered that address: project scope, running meetings, identifying tasks, organizing tasks, estimating durations, Critical Path calculation, scheduling, fast tracking, risk evaluation and mitigation, RASIC, managing team members, tracking completed work, project review meetings, managing changes, capturing and using Lessons Learned.
- Supports the use of Microsoft Project and other software packages. An optional half-day module provides hands-on training in Microsoft Project.
